I don’t have too much preference to what I use for my personal study. There are some Bible translations that I don’t like as much, but it does not make them more or less valid.
Here are the translations I use:
- New International Version (NIV)
- [New] King James Version ([N]KJV)
- Amplified Bible
- Holman Christian Standard Bible (Holman CSB)
- Greek New Testament
- New Living Translation (NLT)
I haven’t a particular preference to a translation, but I do believe that people should be able to easily read the translation they have. If you have a bible and you get mixed up in it’s thee/thine/thou-s and you wonder why in the Old Testament it instructs Israel to sacrifice turtles instead of turtle doves, maybe it’s a good idea to switch up. If you want readability, I would recommend the New Living Translation, and if you want to have close accuracy to the Greek, New American Standard is the way to go, but those are both just my opinion.
